CHRISTOPHER BANG

Let me introduce you one of my favorite people in the whole world, my idol, my inspiration, the love of my life. His name is Christopher Bang or people usually call him ‘Bang Chan’

Who is Bang Chan?

Bang Chan is an Australian-Korean music producer, choreographer, and one of the members of a famous K-POP boy band nowadays called “Stray Kids”. He was born on October 3, 1997 in Sydney, Australia. Chan used to go to Newtown High School of the Performing Arts in Sidney before he went to KoreaHe has two siblings, one younger sister named Hannah and one younger brother named Lucas. Bang Chan’s hobby is producing music, playing basketball, and learn new things such as instruments, cultures etc. Chan is multilingual, he can speak more than 5 languages (Korean, English, French, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, German and more) which is inspiring me to learn more languages. Chan is also a ballet and modern dancer when he was teenager

Why?

Bang Chan has been my idol for a long time because of his great leadership, responsibility, humbleness and optimism. Bang Chan wanted to be a singer so he liked to make people have a good time since he was a kid. Which is why he joined a JYP audition in Australia back in 2010, and luckily he passed with a reason “idol material and talent”. JYP entertainment is where Stray Kids was born but before that, Chan had to go through tons of obstacles like language barrier and culture differences. He had to learn Korean and its culture for short amount of time, the other time was spent by practicing his vocal, dancing, and his rapping skills. But that didn’t stop him to be confident and being optimistic. He learnt Korean with his two Korean friends who were also trainees of JYP entertainment and the future members of Stray Kids as well named Jisung (Han) and Changbin. They made a group together that makes hiphop music until now with under a name “3RACHA”, they make music about how they work hard to achieve something big and how nobody can stop them to be who they are. Chan has trained under JYP for 7 years and he used to be one of the contestants in some kind of survival show which was also called ‘Stray Kids’
In August 2017, (JYPE) officially announced the agency's new reality survival show to launch a male idol debut project. More details and teasers were released in the next two months, including the show's title—Stray Kids. Prior to its premiere on October 17, JYP released Stray Kids' first music video for a song titled "Hellevator", which was later released as a digital single. Two members, Lee Know and Felix, were eliminated from the group, but all nine members ended up in the final line-up.

Along with the launch of Stray Kids' official website, JYPE announced the release of the group's pre-debut extended play (EP) titled Mixtape. It contains seven tracks co-written and co-composed by the members, including "Hellevator" and other songs that they performed during the show. The EP, along with the performance video of its second track titled "Beware", was released on January 8, 2018, while the performance video of "Spread My Wings" was uploaded online a week later. It debuted at number 2 on Gaon's Album Chart and Billboard's world Album Chart

On March 5, JYP announced the debut showcase of the group titled Stray Kids Unveil (Op. 01: I Am Not), which was held on March 25 at Jangchung Arena. They officially debuted the next day with the release of their EP titled I am NOT, along with the music video of its title track titled "District 9", while the music video of "Grow Up" and performance video of "Mirror" were released on March 31 and April 23 respectively. I Am Not debuted at number four on Gaon's Album Chart and sold over 54,000 physical copies in March.

On October 4, JYPE announced the group's third showcase titled Stray Kids Unveil (Op. 03: I Am You), which was held on October 21 at Olympic Hall, and followed by the release of their new album EP IAM YOU the next day.
Chan is labeled as one of the most talented idol in Korea because he made a legendary music also his band’s debut song by his own hands with a title ‘Hellevator’ and ‘District 9’ in 2018. These songs hitting Top 20 billboard music, and they talk about mental health, depression, and how to survive in this game called life ; ever since that happened, he was chosen to be the leader of Stray Kids. And now, with tons of award, appreciations, but most importantly respect from people who listened to his music, Chan has been more courageous, more creative toward their new song with a proud smile who pictures a guy that has achieved his wildest dream. And I will get that smile one day in the future
